Out and Up! vol.2: A Spoken Word Showcase

Out and Up showcases three up-and-coming spoken word talents: Cara Ow, Eunice Sng and Lillian Lai in their debut headline performances. They will dazzle you with original poetry on their observations of the world, their identities, and their family relationships. Out and Up is presented by independent literary arts organiser Outspoken, produced by Cheyenne Alexandria Phillips and Don Shiau.

About the poets:

Cara Ow is a body most regularly occupied by poetry. Unable to fully express themselves in their dying creole mother tongue, Cara’s experimental works resort to a haphazard polylingualism to explore ideas of miscommunication and playful creation. Runner-up of the 2021 Hawker Prize, Cara placed 3rd with their team in the Grand Poetry Tournament, amongst other appearances.

Eunice Sng is a two-time winner of the National Poetry Competition. By day, she works as a media professional. By night, she studies the Russian language in hopes of moving to a post-Soviet republic, learns about witchcraft and lurks in the local underground music scene.

Lillian Lai is a person who loves poetry. From age 14 in Malaysia, to 19 in Singapore, to the 23-year-old travelling between both today, she has never stopped seeking spoken word stages. For Lillian, poetry passes from person to person - and settles in the heart.
