About this Event

For more than four decades, Fitzroy icon Robbie Thorpe has stood at the frontlines of Aboriginal resistance — confronting the unfinished business of invasion, sovereignty, and state violence in so-called Australia.

Our Warrior is a powerful documentary portrait of Fitzroy icon Robbie Thorpe: Krauatungalung (Gurnai) and Djapwurrung (Gunditjmara) man, unapologetic activist, and tireless campaigner for Indigenous sovereignty. Through archival footage and intimate moments, the film traces Thorpe’s life of resistance — from the early days of Black Power through to contemporary struggles against police violence, incarceration, and the ongoing dispossession of First Nations peoples.

Following the screening, join us for a conversation reflecting on Thorpe’s legacy, the politics of protest, and what Indigenous resistance teaches us about truth-telling, justice, and survival today. Our Warrior asks urgent questions about who is allowed to dissent — and what it means to keep fighting anyway.
