About this Event
When was your beginning...? And in your beginning there was...?
Together, we will explore the moments before creation, and what that means to each participant.
We will share our favorite parts of creation myths, personal memories, and stories from literature to make art (whatever that means to you... all art forms are welcome), play interactive games, and enjoy respectful creative discussion.
The final product will include bits and pieces of everyone’s stories of becoming, combined with the stories that resonate most with the group. This material will be the foundation for upcoming rehearsals and performances this fall.
You may attend as many workshops as you like (although we'd love to see you at all of them!) with no commitment to participate in the Our Own Voice fall production (although we'd love to have you on board!).
Participation is free and open to the public. No headshots/resumes required. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. You don't need any theatre experience, only a willingness to share, try new things, and work supportively with others.
We welcome and encourage folks of all ages, genders, backgrounds, belief systems, abilities or disabilities, orientations, education levels, national origins, and any other personal identities to participate in this collaborative process.
Since 1991, Our Own Voice Theatre Troupe has been using the arts to engage the Memphis community in a dialogue about mental health and social justice.
