What we DO know…
Hey folks, there has been a lot of questions on classes ect. We are going off Southern Wisconsin Ice Racing Association rule book. I tried to mirror there rules in our class list. If there is any questions concerns on race day or before we will be referencing the SWIRA rule book.
2026 OTTER STREET ICE RACES RULE BOOK

1. EVENT OVERVIEW
The 2026 Otter Street Ice Races are a single-day ice racing event featuring motorcycles and ATVs racing on a frozen course. This event is presented by TWL Powersports and Marine and hosted by the Otter Street Fishing Club. Racers, crews, and spectators must adhere to all event rules and safety requirements.
2. CLASS DEFINITIONS
🏍️ Motorcycle Classes
Peewee Motorcycle
• Age: 9 & under
• Track: Oval only
Youth Motorcycle
• Age: 6–12
• Engine: 65cc–85cc two-stroke, up to 150cc four-stroke
• Track: Oval only
Open 250 Pro/Am Motorcycle
• Age: 12 & older
Open B Motorcycle
• Age: 14 & older
Open A Motorcycle
• Age: 16 & older
35+ Open Veterans Motorcycle
• Age: 35 & older
• Track: Oval only
Hooligans Motorcycle
• Open rules class(MORE TO COME)
Women’s Motorcycle Open
TT Motorcycle Classes
• Open A TT
• Open B TT

🛞 Studded Quad Classes
Peewee Quad
• Age: 9 & under
• Track: Oval only
Youth Quad – Oval
• Age: 12 & under
• Engine: Up to 90cc two-stroke, 125cc four-stroke
• Age divisions: 7 & under, 8–12
• Track: Oval only
Open C Quad (Studded)
• Age: 12 & older
• Restrictions: No Quad A or Pro riders
Open B Quad (Studded)
• Age: 14 & older
• No Pro riders
Open A Pro Quad (Studded – Oval)
• Age: 16 & older
Women’s Quad Open
• Age: 14 & older

• Open, fun class
🛞 Rubber Tire Quad Classes (Oval only)
Youth Rubber Quad
• Age: 6–12
Peewee Rubber Quad
• Age: 9 & under
Open A Rubber Quad
• Age: 14 & older
Open B Rubber Quad
• Age: 12 & older
Outlaw Pro Rubber Quad
• Age: 16 & older
3. TRACK RULES & PROCEDURES
RACE STARTS, STOPS & RESTARTS
1. Races stopped with less than 2 full laps are restarted in original order. Riders on the penalty line remain there.
2. If a race is stopped after 2 laps, it will be restarted single file according to the last completed lap.
3. If riders fall and the race is stopped:
◦ First rider down restarts at the rear.
◦ Riders who did not complete the red-flag lap start behind riders who did.
4. Riders primarily responsible for a stoppage may restart from the penalty line.
5. Races stopped after 60%+ distance may be considered complete and scored accordingly.
TRACK CONDUCT
1. Riders must restart without outside assistance; help to move machines only to clear the course.
2. Riders leaving the track must re-enter at the point of exit; failure results in penalization.
3. Reckless riding endangering others may result in immediate disqualification.
4. Pit entry/exit must use designated lanes; failure may result in disqualification.
FINISHING RULES
1. Riders with disabled machines may push/carry their machine forward and finish if they have completed at least 50% of the laps of the winning rider.
2. Riders not on the line when the green light activates are a DNS (did not start) and receive no points for that class.
4. FLAGS & SIGNALS
• Green: Start
• White: One lap remaining
• Yellow: Slow; no passing
• Black: Disqualification — report to referee
• Red: Race stoppage
• Checkered: Race finish

5. RIDER SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory equipment:
• Full-coverage or full-face helmet
• Eye protection
• Chest protection
• Gloves
• Boots over the ankles
Helmets meeting recognized safety standards are recommended. Midwest Ice Racing
6. MACHINE REQUIREMENTS
General:
• Functional muffler required; excessively loud machines must be modified.
• No nitrous oxide.
• No radio communication with riders.
ATVs:
• Nerf bars
• Functional tether switch
• Safe body plastics
• AMA legal studs only (3/16” max) if studded
Motorcycles:
• Front and rear fenders required(ice fenders)
• AMA-approved studs only
• K*ll switch must be working
• No pit racing; 5 mph max in pits
7. TECH INSPECTION
All machines are subject to pre-race and random surprise inspections. Non-compliance may lead to disqualification.
8. ENFORCEMENT & PENALTIES
Violation of rules may result in:
• Disqualification for the day
• Loss of points
• Loss of class eligibility
• Being pulled from further races
Officials’ decisions are final and binding.
