About the Ottawa Youth Council
The Ottawa Youth Council (OYC) is a dynamic program created in partnership with the City of Ottawa to empower youth aged 15-25. Our mission is to foster civic education and sustainable engagement on issues that matter to young people. In a vibrant and inclusive environment, OYC enables youth to confidently express their ideas, collaborate on city solutions, influence key municipal decisions, and contribute to policy development that drives meaningful change in Ottawa. Youth in the OYC are not just participants but leaders, actively shaping the future of our city by advocating for causes like climate change, human rights, diversity and inclusion, and mental health. Together, we create real impact through collaboration, advocacy, and partnerships with community organizations and local leaders.
