Open me carefully . . .Would you like to meet new people and read, share, and discuss poetry over drinks and snacks on a Sunday evening?
Then join us for the inaugural Ottawa Poetry Salon! Sunday, 1 February 2026, from 7 pm to 9 pm at The Hintongburg Public House, 1020 Wellington Street West, Ottawa.
Bring a favourite poem to share with the group, or simply come and listen to, appreciate, and discuss poetry of all kinds and be inspired. Everyone is welcome!
The theme for our first gathering is “open me carefully,” from a letter by Emily Dickinson to her beloved friend Susan Huntington Gilbert Dickinson.
You are encouraged to bring and share some of your favourite poetry, but the host will also have a selection of the work of W. H. Auden, E. E. Cummings, Emily Dickinson, T. S. Eliot, Thom Gunn, Ted Hughes, Denise Levertov, Mary Oliver, Sylvia Plath, William Carlos Williams, and Carl Sandberg to share.
There is no charge to attend, but we strongly encourage you to purchase a beverage or a snack from the kind people at The Hintonburg Public House, who have graciously agreed to host us.
