About the Book
Taslīm: We Are the Prophets explores the burden of taslīm—the oral transmission of heritage—on Coptic Orthodox women. Through poetry and prose, Dr. Ramzy highlights how Coptic women navigate tradition and diaspora, confronting deferred joy, compulsory motherhood, and gendered sacrifice. This feminist manifesto encourages women to live and desire out loud.
“Carolyn Ramzy’s Taslīm: We Are the Prophets refuses silence. Like Lorde, she lives as an act of resistance. Her work is both autoethnographic refusal and a blueprint for cultural transformation. More than personal testimony; it is an invitation.”—Aly Tadros
