One night in November 1927, the Minx steam powered coal barge broke loose from her moorings and drifted unnoticed through Portland Harbour and across Weymouth Bay. Unmanned and unnoticed she came to a stop on Frenchman's Ledge where she became wrecked and still lies today. The following morning there was a frenzy of activity as locals gathered to gather coal from ashore from her hold.
Today, The Minx still sits along the shoreline at Osmington Mills and has become a fantastic artificial wreck full of marine life. It's deepest point is no more than 3m, which makes it perfect for any sea lover to take a swim or snorkel around the wreckage. It displays many wreck like features and makes for a perfect adventure.
