How to Present Your Work Professionally, with Gemma Girvan

Join us for a daytime talk over a coffee at TOSH, where you can gain useful tips surrounding creative presentation of work for exhibitions, and approaching galleries.
Gemma Girvan, Curator at in Honiton, will guide us through best practice advice when submitting work for open calls and approaching commercial galleries. She will also share insights into what curators are looking for when selecting work.
This relaxed talk is for artists at any stage of their career. Questions and discussions are welcomed throughout the session.
About Gemma Girvan
Gemma Girvan is Curator and Gallery Manager at Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Honiton. She brings extensive expertise in approaching galleries, presenting work professionally, and navigating open exhibitions. Gemma also organises the biannual Thelma Hulbert Open, a key platform for artists across the South West.

Open School Creative is a collaboration between BEAF Arts Co and TOSH (The Old School House) to support our community of artists and their artistic development at all stages of their career. OSC events and workshops are for artists interested in collaboration, skills development, community and networking.
Getting to us at TOSH
If you are coming by foot or by bus, take the M2 bus and get off near Boscanova if coming from Southbourne, or the stop after Aldi if coming from Poole and Bournemouth. If you are coming by car we would recommend parking in the sovereign centre car park.
Pokesdown for Boscombe train station is a 15-20 minute walk to TOSH, along Christchurch Road.
