PAULA SOUSA TRIOPaula Sousa studied piano at OPorto Conservatory, played in several pop bands in
the late 80's and 90's and started playing jazz in the beginning of the new millenium.
Sousa attended the Jazz School of the Hot Clube de Portugal and graduated in Jazz
Performance from Berklee College of Music, in Boston.
As a pianist and composer, her music has multiple influences beyond jazz. Her
recordings gather the irreverence of rock music with the universality of classical and
contemporary music and a very peculiar portuguese taste. Sousa offers a repertoire
of originals where emotion gives birth to a honest artistic freedom, released from
more frequent aesthetic tendencies.

Paula Sousa frequentou o Conservatório, passou pela música pop nacional, e
começou a tocar jazz no princípio do novo milénio. Estudou na Escola do Hot Clube,
e completou o curso em Jazz Performance na Berklee College of Music em Boston.
A sua música denota múltiplas influências para além do jazz. Paula Sousa, pianista
e compositora, reúne numa formação standard do jazz contemporâneo, a
irreverência do rock, com a universalidade da música clássica, dandolhe um
peculiar sabor português.
