About this Event
Join us to learn from those impacted by Orlandos environmental injustices and learn from experts how you can take control of the energy future of the City Beautiful. In August of 2017, Mayor Dyer and the Orlando City Council unanimously voted to move Orlando to 100% clean renewable energy by 2050. Despite this goal, OUC leadership insisted on a plan that would convert the Stanton coal plant into fracked gas which is just another polluting fossil fuel. Relying on fossil fuels not only endangers the health of Orlando residents but exposes OUC customers to volatile price hikes. In fact, OUC raised its customers rates four times due to the increased costs of gas. Orlando and Central Florida families shouldnt have to pay more for OUCs fossil fuel addiction, whether it means paying more for their energy or paying with their health. Both impacts are injustices that our families shouldn't have to face.
