*Dunrobin Castle (on our way to Orkney): one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses dating back to the 1300's located on the east coast in the Northern Highlands overlooking the Moray Firth
*Skara Brae: the remarkably well-preserved ruins of a Neolithic village unveiled by a wind storm in 1850
*The awe-inspiring standing Stones of Stenness and nearby remains of Barnhouse Neolithic Village
*The unforgettable Ring of Brodgar: A once ceremonial circle of 60 standing stones, of which over 30 still stand today
*Maeshowe Chambered Cairn: Nearly 5000 year old burial chamber aligned with the setting sun of the Winter Solsice
*The ruins of the Iron Age Broch of Gurness, described as Scotland's best preserved broch village
*A guided tour of Kirkwall (exclusive to our group) featuring a visit to the Romanesque, St. Magnus Cathedral: the oldest cathedral in Scotland, also rich with Viking history. This day will also include a visit to the Bishop's Palace and the Italian Chapel and a stop to view Scapa Flow.

Throughout our time together, Denise Crawn and Nick will offer guided walks and talks amongst the sites and group evening sessions further exploring and reflecting of the history, myth and legends of Orkney and aspects of Celtic Spirituality. All will be blended beautifully with Walking Awake's eclectic mix of poetry, music, ceremony, story and simply 'walking awake' in all we do! A more detailed itinerary will be given nearer the event.
