About this Event
Henry’s retreats and workshops are a chance to gather in community and settle into deep peace and restfulness, and to investigate glimpses of our "original nature."
Each retreat offers an exploration, from the heart, of various themes and practices inherent in Henry’s Original Love program. The four main “zones of practice” in this program are Mindfulness, Connectedness, Flow, and Awakening.
In the course of each retreat day, we will have guided meditations, and talks infused with poetry, with teachings old and new, and quotes from beloved authors and poignant stories.
We will also have Q&A periods, where students have the chance to ask questions, as well as hear answers to the questions that other students have on their minds and hearts, and discussion periods with plenty of opportunity to connect and dialogue with one another.
Henry Shukman is an authorized Zen Master in the Sanbo Zen lineage, and is spiritual director emeritus of Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In addition to teaching meditation, Henry is an award-winning poet and author, whose memoir One Blade of Grass recounts his own journey through meditation practice. His struggles and traumatic experiences as a youth, combined with a spontaneous awakening experience at 19, and many years of training under several teachers, paved the way for his developing a well-rounded approach to healing and awakening through meditation. His latest book is Original Love, out in July 2024.
