Come and celebrate labour day with us, as we organise towards more reasons to celebrate labour day in years to come.
Starting with lunch, the day will include opportunities to learn about political issues impacting the union movement, and team scheming about the role Unions Wellington can play in continuing to strengthen worker power in Wellington.
The Agenda:
Arrive, mingle and have a free lunch!
Talk: Panel discussion on privatisation - Learn about the impacts of privatisation on workers rights in NZ, brainstorm ways to combat ongoing privatisation and support the “publicisation” of essential services going forward. Why are private companies making massive profits off working people struggling with the rising cost of living? We don’t know, but we don’t like it.
Workshop: Developing the Unions Wellington Charter- Where can our campaigns target community issues that impact workers lives? Bring your dreams and schemes to the table.
Crafts and Fun: Who can make the best union kite? We will close the day with an opportunity to compete for BEST UNION KITE 2025. Kite making supplies provided- or bring your own!
