St. John's Episcopal Church on First Street in Troy invites the community to an organ concert 3pm Sunday, October 6 in honor of our recently retired (and, sadly, recently deceased) longtime organist Ted Phillips. Daniel Romero, noted organist and choir director at Albany's St. Peter's Episcopal Church, will headline a program of music played on St. John's beautifully restored Aeolian Skinner organ -- including a brand-new piece commissioned for the occasion by renowned organ composer Al Fedak.
Other pieces by J. S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Herbert Howells, and Austin Lovelace will also be performed by organ and choir.
A reception will follow the concert. There is no admission fee, but donations to our organ fund would be welcome. There is plenty of free parking across from the church in its parking lot on First Street, as well as on the street and in an adjacent Sage College lot. A handicapped entrance is available to the left of the main entrance, on Liberty Street.
