Carmina Burana has become a favourite with concert-goers and made a lasting mark on the choral landscape since its first appearance in the 1930s.
Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana is renowned for its dynamism and energetic drive, as well as scenes of great tenderness, it captures life’s turning with the Wheel of Fortune: the awakening of love in spring, wild scenes in the tavern, a swan whose fortunes end roasting on a spit, and the eventual submission and rejoicing in the will of the flesh. An hour of high entertainment, this concert will also feature songs by the CCS Youth Choir and other short items.
