Formé à Brighton en 2017, Opus Kink brouille les pistes avec un mélange mutant de punk, jazz et country. Porté par une section de cuivres incisive et un chant mordant, le groupe façonne un univers sombre et absurde, quelque part entre The Pop Group et The Birthday Party, tout en y injectant des influences folk, cabaret ou latines.
Réputé pour ses lives intenses et imprévisibles, Opus Kink s’est forgé une aura culte sur les scènes DIY d’Europe. En 2024, ils enregistrent “I Wanna Live With You” avant de collaborer avec le producteur Craig Silvey pour donner naissance à leur premier album The Sweet Goodbye — un disque ambitieux, étrange et fiévreux, à l’image d’un groupe résolument inclassable.

Opus Kink werd opgericht in Brighton in 2017 en zet het publiek op het verkeerde been met een veranderlijke mix van punk, jazz en country. Gedragen door een scherpe blazerssectie en bijtende zang creëert de band een duister en absurd universum, ergens tussen The Pop Group en The Birthday Party in, terwijl ze er invloeden uit folk, cabaret en de Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek in verwerken.
Opus Kink staat bekend om zijn intense en onvoorspelbare liveoptredens en heeft een cultstatus verworven in de Europese DIY-scene. In 2024 namen ze ‘I Wanna Live With You’ op, waarna ze samenwerkten met producer Craig Silvey om hun debuutalbum ‘The Sweet Goodbye’ uit te brengen – een ambitieus, vreemd en koortsachtig album, dat een perfecte afspiegeling is van deze absoluut niet in een hokje te plaatsen band.
