Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) Project

The AIMS Project (Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland) is primarily there to benefit SMEs. The use of the AIMS equipment and expertise is free of charge. Incorporating state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, we provide SME’s access to advanced manufacturing, business support and industry-led expertise, assisting businesses to:

• Innovate, develop, prove, and introduce new processes in product manufacturing

• Introduce businesses to new technology and innovate ways of manufacturing

• Turn their ideas into reality without the cost of R&D

Recent collaborations have resulted in assisting clients with introducing new products, automating processes and reverse engineering. We have a range of equipment available at our group of innovation facilities based at Dumfries & Galloway College (Dumfries Campus), The Bridge (Dumfries) and Borders College (Hawick Campus), including:

• 3D printers for polymer and metals

• 5 Axis CNC VMC

• CNC Lathe with live tooling

• Robotic Welding

• CMM (metrology) with 3D Software (portable & stationary)

• 3D Laser Tracker

• 3D Scanner and Reverse Engineering Bundle

• Collaborative Robots (COBOTS)

• AR/VR Visualisation

We can arrange for businesses to view our facilities at one of our locations listed above and our experienced team are available for technical appraisals which can be arranged at your site(s). Please contact Lauren or Joanne from the team at [email protected]

You can follow our Linkedin page to keep up-to-date with news and forthcoming events.

The AIMS Project is a fantastic opportunity for manufacturing SME’s. We hope this has given you a good overview of what is on offer.
