Operation Big Jake Bosstone (OBJB) Bring the 90s Ska Punk Explosion Back to LifeMelbourne’s love affair with ska punk gets a full-throttle revival on Friday June 19th from 7pm, as Operation Big Jake Bosstone (OBJB) hit the stage for a high-energy celebration of the genre that defined a generation.
Formed as a tribute to the unstoppable wave of 1990s ska punk, OBJB isn’t just another cover band. Featuring current and former members of respected Australian acts including Area 7, The Kujo Kings, The Resignators, AADD and AB/CD, this is a collective of seasoned musicians who lived and breathed the scene the first time around. Now they’re bringing it back louder, tighter and with even more attitude.
Expect a set packed wall-to-wall with era-defining anthems from bands like Reel Big Fish, Rancid, Less Than Jake, Mustard Plug, Sublime, The Mad Caddies, Buck-O-Nine, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Toasters, Operation Ivy and The Suicide Machines, plus plenty more surprises along the way. Horns blazing, guitars skanking and rhythms built to move, OBJB deliver the full ska punk experience.
This is more than a gig. It’s a throwback to sweaty dancefloors, checkerboard Vans, and the kind of nights where the only rule was to keep moving. Whether you were there the first time or you’re discovering it fresh, OBJB promise a night of pure nostalgia, energy and connection.
Best of all, entry is completely FREE, making this one of the most accessible and unmissable live music nights on the Melbourne calendar.
Bring your friends, lace up your dancing shoes and get ready to skank the night away.
