SYNOPSIS
OpenStreetMap (OSM), often called the "Wikipedia of maps", has revolutionised the way geographic information is collected, shared, and used. This talk will explore the unique nature of OSM, where a community of volunteers collaboratively curates an extensive, ever-evolving map of the world. We look at the inherent challenges and triumphs of this decentralised model, the technology that powers it, and the role of contributors who become inadvertent champions of Open Data, advocating for free access to geospatial information.
