Galleri Maria Friis ser frem til at fejre ferniseringen af Lina Hashims soloudstilling 'Fragments of Me'. I løbet af aftenen vil der være en performance af Lina Hashim. Vi glæder os til at byde dig velkommen til åbningen, hvor vi byder på kolde forfriskninger.
Dansk-irakiske Lina Hashim arbejder med et dobbelt blik på islam og køn, dels som muslimsk født kvinde og dels som kritisk iagttager. Med udstillingen 'Fragments of Me' præsenterer Galleri Maria Friis værker fra forskellige perioder af Lina Hashims praksis, der undersøger og afslører den skjulte undertrykkelse af muslimske kvinder. Udstillingen omfatter spejlmosaikker, kalligrafi og blodfyldte tæpper, som både udgør en kollektiv fortælling og samtidig fremstår som fragmenter af Hashims liv. Blikket forskydes og konfronteres af Lina Hashims både smukke og brutale værker.
Lina Hashim (f. Kuweit City, 1978) bor og arbejder i København. Hun er uddannet fra Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi i 2020 og har udstillet bredt bl.a. på Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Nikolaj Kunsthal og Norton Museum of Art i West Palm Beach, Florida. Hun har modtaget 15. Juni Fondens hæderspris og Statens Kunstfonds treårige arbejdslegat.

Galleri Maria Friis is delighted to celebrate the opening of Lina Hashim's solo exhibition 'Fragments of Me'. During the evening Lina Hashim will be doing a performance. We look forward to welcoming you to the opening, where we will offer cold refreshments.
Danish-Iraqi Lina Hashim works with a double perception of Islam and gender, partly as a Muslim-born woman and as a critical observer. With the exhibition 'Fragments of Me', Galleri Maria Friis presents works from different periods of Lina Hashim's practice that investigate and reveal the hidden layers of oppression of Muslim women. The exhibition includes mirror mosaics, calligraphy and blood-filled carpets that both form a collective narrative as well as fragments of Hashim's life. Your gaze is dislocated and confronted by Lina Hashim's both beautiful and brutal works.
Lina Hashim (B. Kuwait City, 1978) lives and works in Copenhagen. She graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2020 and has exhibited widely, including at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Nikolaj Kunsthal and the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida. She has received 15. June Foundation's honorary award and the Danish Arts Foundation's three-year working grant.
