About this Event
How strong must you be to stand up against a regime that oppresses you, not just once, but time and time again?
With Pulse Uprising, a poignant multimedia installation in progress, visual artists Vida Kashani, Amir Komelizadeh and Siavash Yazdanmehr pay tribute to the many resilient bodies capable of doing so – in particular those of Iranian women who have been rebelling against restrictive measures for years. Whilst the work is rooted in the Iranian context, which is currently under attack not only from within but also from without, its message resonates far beyond.
The installation unfolds in phases, taking the audience on a journey through compelling, confrontational and emotionally charged experiences that alternate between the perspectives of the protester, the oppressor and the spectator.
Through the interplay of text, sound art and moving image, Pulse Uprising forms a sensory loop that explores alienation, loneliness, vulnerability, power, courage and fear – and draws attention to the systems that shape, control and often silence our lives.
This dynamic constellation does not seek a solution, but allows the pulsating rhythms of resistance to resound on a global scale.
