🌿✨ Opening Gala – LABRFF 2025 ✨🌿
Join us for an unforgettable evening as the festival opens on October 13 with the acclaimed documentary “Yanuni”, directed by Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Richard Ladkani and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.
This powerful film takes audiences deep into the Amazon, revealing its breathtaking beauty while exposing the alarming threats faced by Indigenous communities and fragile ecosystems. Through striking cinematography and compelling storytelling, Yanuni is both a call to action and a moving tribute to the strength of those fighting for our planet’s future.
At the heart of the story is Indigenous Chief Juma Xipaia, who courageously defends her people’s land despite assassination attempts. Her fight gains new urgency when she learns she is expecting a child, while her husband, Special Forces ranger Hugo Loss, stands firmly by her side.
💫 We are honored to announce that Juma Xipaia, Hugo Loss, and director Richard Ladkani will be present at the Gala, making this opening night even more special.
