This collection embodies the direction my work has taken over the last 12 months. It is towards a looser, more painterly technique, and a more personal lyrical approach.

It includes more frequent textual elements and allusions to positive well-being.

I have also explored new media, namely oil stick and coffee, in combination with acrylics.

Gratitude is what I wish to share with my exhibition. I am so thankful to still be here with enough energy to work and the courage to go ahead with my first solo exhibition.

I am deeply grateful to two artists who have become dear friends. With their delightful, lively lessons, Mimmo Cozzolino and Sheena Mathieson helped me regain my enthusiasm and self-confidence. There were years of no creativity as my partner made the long goodbye of Alzheimers and then the blank space of covid lockdown.

Loving support from everyone in my family has always made me feel extremely lucky.

The most enormous gratitude of all is for my extraordinary home, planet Earth with all things 'counter, original, spare, strange; whatever is fickle, freckled.........' to borrow a few words from G.M.Hopkins.

Without Sheena I would never have imagined that I could have an exhibition. She introduced me to Christina and that amazing woman took a big chance and offered me this space.

Everything I do is a result of my connection to something - cultural heritage, cultural rituals, childhood memories.....even some of the travel destinations that end up as a print are because of an emotional connection I have had at that place or at that time.
