Feature Gallery and Level 3 Galleria
Opening in Feature Gallery, Material. After. Life. features works by nine contemporary artists: Sonny Assu, Douglas Bentham, Wally Dion, John Latham, Joanne Lyons, Gwen MacGregor, Leanne Read, Kara Uzelman, and Jan Wade.
While their practices are diverse, what unites these artists is an interest in work with found objects and materials, to breath new life into that which had been or would be discarded. By reshaping remnants of the past, the exhibition reveals how artists give the cast-off second lives, finding the residue and spirit in remnants often assumed to be inert, and generating renewed possibilities.
The opening program and reception will take place on Level 3 of the Museum

6:00 PM - 7 PM | Preview tour, with Michelle Jacques (Director of Exhibitions & Collections/Chief Curator), Jenny Ryan (Interpretive Planner & Programs Manager), and artists Doug Bentham, Wally Dion, Joanne Lyons, Gwen MacGregor, Leanne Read, Kara Uzelman and Jan Wade.
7 PM - 9 PM | Public Reception, with trinket exchange facilitated by Shannon Kuehn and Alex Brown and remarks at 7:15pm
