About this Event
This short, unique session introduces Stagetext, a theatre captioning charity for deaf people and those whose hearing is not as good as it used to be. They subtitle in theatres across the UK, so that anyone can enjoy plays without worrying about missing what the actors say, as their words appear on a screen next to the stage.Currently in the UK, 18 million people, that’s 1 in 3 of the population, experience varying types of deafness, including 40% of the over 50s and 70% of the over 70s, so this provision is needed.
This event is part of our programme for Get Online Week, from 14-20 October 2024. This week and beyond, we are encouraging people to use the internet to learn, plan, or book something to look forward to fight feeling lonely. It takes place before our IT drop-in session, so that afterwards you can learn how to browse their website to see what’s on, if you so wish.
