About this Event
What to expect?
During the workshop session you will have access to a wide range of large-format tools and your individual workbench. You will be joined by other members in a friendly space of learning and practicing. You will work on a project of your own choosing. If you're looking for some ideas to get started, we have a few examples that volunteers will be happy to guide you on.
- We have a variety of recycled wood available for small projects.
- We also have a small range of consumables (sanding papers or screws, nails) available for you to use in exchange for a small donation.
- We have PPE (mask, ear defenders, safety glasses) for all attendants but we recommend you to bring your own if you have them.
- If you need any help or guidance, please ask our volunteers, they are eager to help!
- Please note there is no possibility of storing your projects for the next time you come in. Our community workshop is shared and used by different groups throughout the week. We need as much space available for the magic of making to happen.

Important infoRequirements
- Attending an induction prior to your first open workshop is compulsory. Inductions can be booked here.
- Having an active membership at the Edinburgh Tool Library is also required. Sign up or renew your membership here.
Booking etiquette
We only have a small number of spaces available each week, so to allow all of our members to have equal access to the workshop, please only book two sessions a month in advance. However, as there is no wait list for Open Sessions, if you have used your two sessions and spot a last minute slot you can use, feel free to snap it up.
If you would like to attend this session but find that it is already fully booked, new sessions across both Tool Library workshops are published on eventbrite weekly every Thursday evening at 20:00.
Cancelling and £5 no-show fee
Out of courtesy to volunteers please cancel your booking 48 hours in advance. This will give us the opportunity to offer the workbench to another member and make the most of the time our volunteers are offering.
If you fail to attend the session, we have the right to deduct a no-show fee donation of £5 from your registered card on myTurn. If there is any issues with cancelling online, contact us on [email protected].
