On the day before Thanksgiving, Detroit shuts down Woodward Ave in preparation for the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. There is no traffic, buses or streetcars running except for the occasional work truck. The public can walk up and down the avenue, looking at the floats as they line them up north of Kirby and prepare them for the parade. You can also bicycle up & down Woodward in most areas.
