Open Mic Night is an inclusive and vibrant evening where musicians, local and traveling bands and poets step onto a small stage, at cozy Spreading the Music on Valence to share their original works, covers, and artistic expressions. It's a supportive environment that encourages creativity and performance.
The audience, a mix of fellow artists and enthusiasts, listens attentively, applauds, and often snaps fingers in appreciation. It's a place where emerging talents can gain confidence and seasoned artists can test new material.
Our Open Mics have a laid-back atmosphere, no cover charge, and are accessible to all! Whether you're a first-time performer or a regular on the scene, it's a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow artists, share your stories, and be part of a supportive creative community. So, if performing or simply there to enjoy, Open Mic Night promises an evening of artistic exploration and connection.

LOGISTICS
- Signup begins at 5:30 pm inside Spreading the Music at the entrance.
- We have a large Bluetooth speaker, drumset, mic, guitar amp, keyboard amp, and bass amp available for use by all performers.
- Performers are called up in the order they sign up.
- Musicians are allotted 10-minute sets, encore performances are welcomed after everyone plays
- This event is open to all ages. Please limit profanity to encourage inclusion.
- Personal Promotions for your work are only allowed within your set.
- 50-person capacity.
- The event will be live-streamed on Instagram @spreadingthemusicnola.
- Sign up for private lessons, group classes, rehearsal space, and collborating at your school, church or organization at our event.
- This event is FREE, though donations are welcome.
WHO WE ARE
Spreading the Music is a New Orleans music studio providing private music lessons, group classes, rehearsal space, and community outreach since 2016. Our mission is to embolden, support and inspire teachers, students, musicians, and the larger community to Spread the Music to the best of their strengths and talents. We teach all ages, genres, levels and instruments and help build exisiting music progams in schools and churchs.
