MARACATU BRISTOL – AN AFTERNOON WITH THE MASTERS! On Sunday 7th September, Bristol will be pulsing to the heartbeat of Maracatu de Baque Virado! Samba's earthier cousin, Maracatu, developed in Afro-Indigenous communities in the Northeast of Brazil over 200 years ago and has survived as a symbol of resistance to this day.
We are honoured to welcome Seu Toinho – the oldest living mestre of maracatu – and Jamesson, director of Maracatu Baque Forte (Recife, Brazil).
This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to:

Feel the power of the drum, song, and dance
