About this Event
Discover the findings from Phase 3 of the Open Kindergarten project, funded by the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund.
Open Kindergartens are a well-established model of whole-family support in Nordic countries. They bring together parents, carers, and young children in family centres, where highly qualified early years practitioners work alongside specialists to help parents build skills, confidence, and knowledge.
Since 2018, Parenting Across Scotland, Midlothian Sure Start, The Open University, and Children in Scotland have collaborated to introduce this approach in Scotland. Following a successful pilot, in 2024 we received funding from the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund to explore new ways of delivering Open Kindergartens. Phase 3 focused on trialling sessions in different areas, venues, and times. We also developed a suit of learning resources to support practitioners to engage with the Open Kindergarten approach.
Join us at our dissemination event to learn more about our work, evaluation findings and resources from this phase. We’re also delighted to be joined by Natalie Don-Innes MSP, Minister for Children, Young People, and The Promise.
