About this Event
Join us and find out how strength training can be very beneficial to pickleball players! Starting Strength Coach, John will be speaking on this topic, answering questions and giving you an opportunity to try a deadlift under his coaching.
Pickleball requires quick, explosive movements, especially for sprinting, changing direction, and hitting powerful shots. Strength training can improve your ability to generate power quickly. Stronger muscles also help in hitting harder serves, volleys, and groundstrokes.
Strength training helps develop the stabilizer muscles around your joints, which are essential for balance and coordination. In pickleball, you need strong stabilizers, especially when moving side-to-side or lunging to make a shot. Strengthening muscles like the core, glutes, and lower back can prevent falls and improve your ability to change directions quickly.
Pickleball involves repetitive movements, sudden stops, and twisting actions that can lead to injuries, particularly in the shoulders, knees, and wrists. Strength training helps strengthen the muscles around these vulnerable areas, which can reduce the risk of common injuries like strains, sprains, and joint problems. Strengthening your rotator cuff, for example, can protect the shoulder, while strengthening the knees and legs can protect against joint injuries.
