We will be birding the Boise River between the Diane Moore Nature Center and the Oregon Trail Historical Marker. The terrain is mostly trails (with some steep sections) and we will be doing some walking off trail along the river. We could walk around a mile or more.
Expect to see wintering waterfowl, gulls, heron, and possibly catch a glimpse of an American Dipper or a Bald Eagle. The area also has a lot of mature trees that house woodpeckers, kinglets, sparrows, and Kestrels. Bring a scope if you have one.
This field trip is best suited for birders with some previous experience. Binoculars will be available if needed.
Participants must be 16 or older to join. Participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release.
Time: 9am - 11am
We will park at the Oregon Trail Historical Marker on Warm Springs Avenue (at milepost 7) just north of the junction with Highway. https://www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=22639
