About this Event
Reflect. Celebrate. Imagine. Indulge in a special high tea experience to commemorate a momentous milestone for democracy in NSW.
This year is the Bicentenary of the NSW Legislative Council (the Upper House). It’s a once-in-lifetime opportunity to reflect on the Council’s incredibly rich and complex journey, celebrate its achievement and impact, and together imagine a robust parliamentary democracy of the future.
On Sunday, 25 August – the exact date of the Council’s very first meeting 200 years ago – we invite you to treat yourself to our exclusive Bicentenary High Tea experience.
The Bicentenary High Tea is part of a host of exciting activities taking place at Open House – an all-day event at NSW Parliament House from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 25 August. Come along to explore the House, enjoy delicious food, see live music performances, historical re-enactments, curated displays from our archives, children’s activities and more. General entry to Open House is free.
Join us for Bicentenary High Tea at Strangers' Restaurant, starting from $80 pp. Bookings are essential. Head to Parliamentary Catering's website to book.
