About this Event
In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, printmaking artist Olesia Kryvolapova will invite children to discover the magic of printmaking through a fun and easy relief printing technique. No experience is needed — just curiosity and imagination!
Using safe, non-toxic and child-friendly materials, participants will create their own prints from start to finish. Olesia will gently guide everyone through each exciting step: drawing an idea, transferring the image, carving with safe tools, rolling on ink, and finally revealing the magical moment of lifting the paper to see their print appear.
All materials are provided. Children can come with a theme or a small sketch prepared in advance, or we can dream up ideas together during the workshop. There will be plenty of space for creativity, experimentation, and playful exploration.
This workshop is all about trying something new, getting a little inky, and enjoying the joy of making art by hand.
The workshop is for children aged 7 to 12 and their adult. Please book one ticket for each child.
All the events at the Open for Art Festival are free to attend, there is an option to add a donation to help support the festival if you would like to and feel able to.
If you can no longer attend please let us know as places are limted and we can offer your space to someone else.
About the artist
Olesia Kryvolapova is a printmaking artist and art teacher from Ukraine, now based in London. She loves exploring everyday life and personal stories through printmaking, as well as working with clay, wood, metal, and other materials. Olesia enjoys experimenting and isn’t afraid to get her hands a little inky!
As a teacher, she creates a warm and encouraging space where children feel free to imagine, experiment, and express themselves. She believes art should be joyful, curious, and a little bit magical — a place where every child can discover their own creative voice.
OPEN FOR ART
19 JUNE - 28 JUNE 2026
REFLECT This year marks 10 years of Open for Art — a decade of artists, makers, communities, ideas and shared experiences in Reading’s largest town centre creative festival. As we celebrate this milestone, our theme invites everyone to pause and consider how creativity emerges from people coming together — experimenting, making, and reflecting. Our theme for 2026 is REFLECT.
For 10 days, we’re inviting Reading to slow down and seek out pop-up art in shops and businesses, encounter artists as they work, take part in creative sessions, and join conversations about how reflection shapes artistic practice.
Come and REFLECT with us this summer.
