Thompson Farm is a family farm, focusing on producing premium quality freezer beef.We raise Speckle Park cattle, a breed developed in Canada, which is known for its efficiency of production, as well as producing beef with amazing marbling, taste, and tenderness.
Our vision is to create quality, locally raised beef, while engaging in responsible land management practices and maintaining the well-being of our animals. With a mind to our footprint, we have several ongoing conservation projects with more planned.
On Saturday, August 16, we are open for casual tours all day long. This free event includes children's activities, featuring STORY TIME with tales of our own animals, scavenger hunt and craft table. There is opportunity to meet some of our livestock, including cattle, horses, chickens, dogs and cats.
We will have BBQ burgers and hot dogs, locally brewed sodas and packaged items available to purchase for lunch between 11:30 and 1:00. Proceeds from lunch to the Camrose Women’s Shelter.
• Hop on a wagon tour through our fields and natural vegetation strips as we travel to visit our Speckle Park cattle on pasture. These tours will be offered at regular intervals throughout the day.
• Freezer beef will be available to purchase, as well as an iced-tea/lemonade stand, cookies and raspberry muffins! - Don't forget your cooler!
• Kid’s activities: story time featuring our farm animals, duckie dunk (win a prize), scavenger hunt, and interactive activities.
• Virtual tour of our land in the Battle River Valley, which has been in our family for nearly 100 years. It has been identified as an Environmentally significant area and a conservation priority.

Visit our farm, where the tradition of farming is now in its 4th generation, with roots in the past and a mind to innovation for the future. Homesteaded in 1902, our values are based on sustainable and responsible management. Built in 1918, our barn has surpassed 100 years, and is still integral to our operation, though so much has changed around it in that time. We are always looking for ways to learn and improve to keep the land we are responsible for healthy for another century.
