Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Red Silk Dancers by dancing with these legends yourself! Dance class will start with a warm up to get us all moving. Then we’ll feel the music with traditional Chinese dance props like ribbons and fans. This class is all the joy of movement, all levels welcome! Red Silk Dancers will perform a short demo from their 40th Anniversary program.
Meet at the north part of Seward park on the volleyball courts, but our location might shift based on availability. Volunteers will be onsite to guide you. Alternate location may be in front of the Seward Park library. In the case of rain, we will go to Think!Chinatown’s studio at 1 Pike st
Founded and directed by Margaret Yuen since 1985, the Red Silk Dancers present a repertoire of traditional and contemporary Chinese classical and folk dance. Through concerts, lecture demonstrations, and residency workshops, the company aims to promote cultural understanding and connect communities. Based in New York City, the company has presented numerous programs throughout the New York metropolitan area and the Eastern United States
