Dylan Kwok takes the stage to give a captivating talk about his latest project, Open Birdcages. This event promises to be a unique opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of the craftsmanship of traditional birdcages. Dylan will share his insights, experiences and also stories behind the making-of traditional birdcages. Prepare to be enthralled as he showcases various birdcages and tools, allowing attendees to witness the artistry and craftsmanship firsthand. It is an event that combines knowledge, storytelling, and a tangible connection to the subject matter. The event is facilitated by Lindsay Varty, acclaimed author of Sunset Survivors.


Biography :

Dylan is an artist, culturalist and storyteller. He was born in Hong Kong, lived in Canada, and studied and worked in Finland. Since settling back in Hong Kong in 2011, he has managed various community projects and exhibitions for the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Design Centre. He has also taught at the Aalto University, the University of Saint Joseph, and the Macao Polytechnic Institute. Dylan was granted a best master’s thesis award in art by the University of Art and Design Helsinki, and was awarded the Hong Kong Young Design Talent in 2009.
