The Children's Theatre Workshop's Collective program invites actors ages 15+ to audition for this year's Collective production, "Twelfth Night." We believe this production will be richer for having a diverse group of ages, gender representation, race/ethnicity, and abilities in the cast. AUDITIONS:
Saturday September 28, 2024 1:00-2:30 pm
Sunday September 29, 2024 1:30-2:30 pm
Auditioners need to sign up for one 30 minute block with this link: https://signup.com/go/nzSDDep. We will email auditioners sections of the script that we expect them to be prepared to perform at the audition--memorization is not expected! Auditioners who are very new to Shakespeare can request to read the "no fear" modern English version.
Auditions are at the Collingwood Arts Center at 2413 Collingwood Blvd in the CTW section of the building. Please enter through the glass doors on the right side of the gravel parking lot.
REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will be 2x a week starting in early October through mid-December. Rehearsals will likely be 11:30-1:30 pm on Saturdays, plus another day based on actor availability for 2 hours at a time. We will take a break in December for the holidays and return in January with rehearsals 3x a week for 2-3 hours at a time, until tech week which will start late January.
PERFORMANCES:
Performances are February 7-9, 2025 at the Ohio Theatre.
THE CONCEPT:
We plan to set "Twelfth Night" in a "long ago and far away" setting--not quite "Historically Accurate Shakespeare," but not "Shakespeare...ON THE MOON" either.
We are making cuts to work toward a 2 hour 15 minute run time (2 hours of text, 15 minute intermission).
ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE:
The Collective is a group of theatre students who are learning about production management under the guidance and supervision of CTW staff. This is a hands-on educational process for them, so auditioners should be prepared to be patient and accommodate for their learning curve. They're great! They're also new at this.
