Join Oak Park Kidical Mass for our first 2026 ride on Sunday, April 19. Feel invited to decorate bikes in advance if that sounds fun or just come on out and we will have plenty of decorations for kids to use. This will be a fun, festive, and easy-going group ride and we cannot wait to see you there!
Our merry band of bikers gathers in Scoville Park at the corner of Oak Park Ave and Lake Street around 8:45am for a 9am(ish) departure. We'll have a few brief announcements followed by a 3.5ish mile loop, lasting just under an hour, starting and ending at Scoville Park.
We ride slowly for little peddlers and parents on cargo bikes. Everyone should wear a helmet, have a parent or guardian with them, and be able to ride without training wheels in a straight line. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for kids who have not learned to pedal.
✦ HOW LONG IS THE ROUTE? ✦
It's just under 3.5 miles long and the rides typically last right around an hour or so.
✦ DO YOU POST THE ROUTE AHEAD OF TIME? ✦
Sure do! You can take a peek here:
https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5797522933
We will head North on Forest Ave, around Lindberg Park, and then South on Forest Ave back to Scoville.
✦ WHAT IF WE CAN'T FINISH THE RIDE? ✦
No problem! Join us for the start, meet us in the middle, and feel free to peel off at any point. And this ride is an out and back, so you can even stop and take a break in the middle if you'd like.
✦ QUICK DISCLAIMER ✦
These rides are intended to be informal gatherings of family cyclists. While the spirit of the ride is that we'll all be looking out for each other, each adult is ultimately responsible for any young people they bring with them and deciding what’s safe and appropriate for you and your group.
