Following 2023’s sold-out show at Tate Liverpool and 2024’s sold-out show right here at Prohibition Recording Studios, the thirteenth annual Only Child with String Quartet gig returns to Arrad Street!“It’s the first time we’ve brought the strings gig back to a room for a consecutive year,” says singer/songwriter Alan O’Hare. “That’s how much we love this special space.”
The story so far… in 2012, Only Child’s debut EP was recorded at Liverpool’s Crosstown Studios with one rule: no electric instruments!
O’Hare was joined by a string quartet at a gig to launch that release at Leaf on Bold Street in 2012 and once a year since has recreated the atmosphere with a gig in hometown Merseyside. View 2 Gallery, The Zanzibar Club, St Bride’s Church, Thornton Hough Village Club, 81 Renshaw… all intimate spaces that Only Child has performed with the strings and O’Hare can’t wait to bring the ever-popular concert back to Prohibition in 2025.
“Only Child take their cue from the likes of Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Mike Scott & The Waterboys and Christy Moore.” – Liverpool Acoustic
