About this Event

This course will give you a grounding in what tango music from Argentina is all about. It is open to all instruments except for percussion.

You will discover how tango developed and what its multiple musical influences are, from African drums to Italian opera, Spanish habanera and Jazz.

We will explore some of the key repertoire from its most popular Golden Age and you will walk away with new musical knowledge and new skills on your instrument!

You will need to be able to read music and have a minimum Grade 5 (ABRSM) level. Sheet music will be sent in advance so you have time to learn the notes before the course begins.

Some of the famous tango orchestras we will be looking at include Canaro, Fresedo, Di Sarli, D'Arienzo, Troilo, Pugliese and Piazzolla.
