About this Event

The BAM Researcher Development Hub | This event is specially designed for research students and members of staff at the University of Chester's Faculty of Business & Management (BAM).

Eligibility: Open to all researchers and interested parties.

A public research seminar - Praxis is the fusion of theory and practice; a rich opportunity to develop and stretch.

This session is part of researcher and research development forming part of the Faculty of Business and Management Doctoral Programmes.

Details of this praxis session are:

Title: Hints and Tips for Level 8 Taught Module Submission – my perspective and experiences

Facilitator: Louise Shorney

Abstract: This session aims to provide insight into my learnings and experiences of undertaking a modular based doctoral programme. I will offer some pragmatic advice about the doctoral journey and how to make the most of this experience. This session will also allow you the opportunity to ask anything as there is ‘no such thing as a silly question’.

Biography: Louise works within the School of Health Sciences as the Associate Head Placements and Practice Development. Louise qualified as a registered

nurse (adult) in 1992, specialising in orthopaedic, spinal injuries and tissue viability nursing. Louise spent several years working in NHS hospitals, especially national specialist orthopaedic and spinal injury units. Louise has worked in higher education for over 20 years and has held a number of senior roles within this sector, she maintains a passion for teaching, curriculum development and student experience.She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and is a Doctoral student whose research is exploring coopetition across Higher Education specifically related to practice learning.

The format: Arrival followed by an interactive presentation (20-30 mins max) with opportunity to ask questions (20 mins).
