What's the symposium about and what's the purpose?

42nd Street invite you to join us in Manchester, the UK’s first Creative Health City at a National Arts and Mental Health Symposium....A Prescription for Life.
The events will be inspired and co-delivered by remarkable young people and young adults at every stage. We really hope you can make it and be part of the next stage of the Prescription for Life campaign, it’s going to be something rather special!
Increasing numbers of young people are asking for mental health and psychosocial support across the UK.
The choices available to them, by prescription or otherwise, within the current health, education and social care system are unable to meet their increased needs and the complexity of their experiences. This situation is leading to an unacceptable world of waiting, inaccessibility and inequity; the pressures on the system and young people are at crisis point.
Increasingly, Creative Health is being considered as part of the solution. However, we need to understand and replicate best practice and mainstream approaches that work at scale and pace to address the current crisis.
This Symposium is designed with young people with expert experience of the current system; they have researched national models of best practice in Creative Mental Health across settings in education, social care, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and across the Voluntary Community Social and Faith Sector. A Prescription for Life will be a unique opportunity to hear from the experts; to experience, learn and implement a replicable responsive tool kit for evidenced best practice. Join us and be part of a national action plan to scale the impact of creativity for young people’s mental health.
