About this Event
Parks Health and Safety Training:
We want to support successful, safe volunteering in Bristol's Parks. To help volunteers undertake work safely and in line with Bristol City Council's policies, Bristol Parks provide monthly sessions free of charge to volunteer leaders.
The Parks Volunteer Health and Safety course raises awareness of the main considerations in organising and running a volunteer activity in a green space. Among other topics, we'll cover risk assessments, tool use, hazardous plants and how to find additional support.
This online session will be a mix of presented information and discussions. Our in person training allows for 5 hours of face to face trianing. To complete this shorter, online session volunteer leads will have a small amount of additional work to do outside of the trainer led session.
Additional tasks:
- We will ask participants to complete a short pre - course task. This involves watching 15 minutes of videos.
- There will be a task to complete after the online course in order to recieve your certificate. This task involves completing a site risk assessment of the green space that you are involved with. You should allow 30 - 90 minutes for completing this activity in your own time, within 4 weeks of the course.
Thank you for considering this course.
We hope your training will allow us to work together better to improve Bristol's green spaces for everyone.
If you are setting up a new park group, or volunteering on a green space not owned by Parks, please contact us for a chat before booking on this training.
