Meet your Instructor:
Alythia, like many who walk this path, did not grow up as a pagan and a witch, but chose this path decades ago. Although perhaps, when she thinks about it, this path chose her, too. She remembers being connected to the gods even as a young woman who was still (at least nominally) of her parents’ Greek Orthodox faith. She had a strong fascination with the tarot, and after years of study was reading professionally out of a new age bookshop in Alexandria in 2007 when she began participating in open holiday circles and, after a time, walking the path of the Knotted Ash, dedicating to the (now defunct) Coven of the Black Vulture in 2011. She achieved her Third Degree in the Knotted Ash tradition in the summer of 2022.
In addition to her role as a coven leader and priestess in the Church of the Knotted Ash, Alythia teaches 101 classes, and workshops on a variety of subjects from tarot reading to devotional practice to wards and shielding. She also writes the blog and sometimes podcast “Witchful Thinking from Alythia,” available on Substack. She also does the things that most people do — goes to work, raises a family, maintains friendships and supports her community.
