Saturday, March 7, 2026 | 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Waikīkī Aquarium invites the community for a free, family-friendly event celebrating the one-year anniversary of Papahānaumokuākea National Marine Sanctuary.
Designated in 2025, Papahānaumokuākea National Marine Sanctuary spans 582,570 square miles of Pacific Ocean waters, making it the largest marine protected area in the National Marine Sanctuary System. The Sanctuary provides important protection for significant natural, cultural, and maritime resources while supporting research, education, and community engagement.
In collaboration with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa School of Ocean and Earth Science Technology (SOEST), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, and other partners, the Aquarium will host an evening of ocean education, keynote speakers, and community relationships supporting Papahānaumokuākea.
