About this Event

One Transit: Why product design is critical for successful migration to same-day, intermodal paratransit.

In June 2024, The Routing Company introduced the concept of One Transit and kicked off a webinar series sparking industry-wide discussion on the need for same-day, intermodal paratransit as a direct means to achieving equitable, truly integrated, and cost-effective transit.

In the second webinar of the One Transit series, we continue the conversation by taking a deep dive on the impact of product design, explaining the direct impact it has on the success of transitioning your paratransit system.

Join us on Wednesday, July 31, for a conversation cohosted by TRC's Dami Adebayo (Director of Partnerships) and Cody Lowe (Director of Global Partner Success), and featuring industry special guests like Marie Gress (Executive Director of WAVE in Dexter, Michigan), as we explore how product design is critical for a transition, as well as the importance and sensitivity of migrating a paratransit system.

We will share real-world examples of successful transitions and critical dispatcher perspectives on the firsthand experience of leading and deploying a paratransit system migration. During this interactive discussion, gain a "behind-the-scenes" look into using a software that puts dispatchers first and hear the do's and don't's from transit leaders themselves.

Commingled paratransit – meaning vehicles are used for paratransit and regular transit services at the same time – really can be empowering for all involved: riders, drivers, and dispatchers. Let’s continue our conversation about how.

Here's a One Transit primer to help get you started on the conversation:

What is One Transit? One Transit is a transit network design that operates high-frequency intermodal accessible transit through technology.

How does One Transit work? One Transit is a system where all transit modes – paratransit, microtransit and fixed routes – are designed to operate in-sync, with seamless connectivity powered by technology.

Why does it matter? The idea behind One Transit is to cost-effectively achieve and maintain equity in transit accessibility and rider experience, so that any rider can get a trip within 15 minutes by being directed to the most effective mode.

A recording of the first One Transit webinar (which you can learn more about here) can be requested by emailing [email protected].

All aboard. And we really mean all.
