DEALING WITH THE PAST IN YOUR MARRIAGE .
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
18 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Looking back steals from your present because it is not easy to deal with the past in our marriages . To have a proper understanding of how much our past influences our present , God is giving us the grace to gather together again to settle the battle of the past influencing our present .
The past is the story that plays through every interaction of your life. No one can afford to underestimate the power of the past. The past may appear gone and forgotten but the grim consequences will continue to linger.
Holding onto the past in marriage is a destructive practice that allows negative spiritual baggage, unresolved emotional attachments, and past sins to hinder present joy and future joy . Any marriage burdened by the past is often under spiritual attack, and failing to let go can result in marital bondage, frustration, and eventual ruin.
The battle with the past must be fought and won. Unless you paralyze the power of the past, it might paralyze you and your marriage . You must come up against the power of the past spiritually and physically.
