A pilgrimage to Melaka is a unique experience, offering an opportunity to step away from our usual routines and draw nearer to God.PURPOSE OF THE PILGRIMAGE
To understand the roots of Anglicanism in Malaysia by visiting the historical Christ Church Melaka.
To promote the role and purpose of liturgy in the life of Anglicans.
To encourage pilgrims to participate in liturgical roles such as choir and acolyte ministries.
SCHEDULE OF THE DAY
07:00 AM – Mattins (St Mary's Cathedral, Kuala Lumpur)
The pilgrimage begins with Mattins (Morning Prayer), seeking God’s mercy and protection for the journey to Melaka. A light breakfast will be provided immediately after the prayers.
10:00 AM – Practice and Workshop (Christ Church Melaka)
Pilgrims interested in serving as acolytes or choir members may attend either the Choir or Acolyte practice session. Each session will include a workshop that offers insights into the meaning and purpose of liturgical worship.
12:00 PM – Midday Solemn Liturgy (Christ Church Melaka)
This will be a Holy Eucharist service in the traditional form of Anglican high church worship. Pilgrims will experience the beauty of creation and the mystery of the Incarnation—encountering God's presence in the physical world and offering the best of it back to Him in worship.
*After the midday liturgy, pilgrims may rest or explore the church grounds to learn more about its historical significance.
03:30 PM – Practice and Workshop II (Christ Church Melaka)
Pilgrims interested in serving as acolytes or choir members may attend either the Choir or Acolyte practice session. A similar workshop on different topic would be offered in this session.
05:00 PM – Choral Evensong (Christ Church Melaka)
The day concludes with Choral Evensong, a traditional service of evening prayer in the Anglican tradition. Through the chanting of Psalms, Canticles, and Anthems, pilgrims will experience a deep sense of reverence and receive the grace of God through His Word.
*Immediately after Evensong, there will be a short time of fellowship before the end of the pilgrimage.
